Transportation
Bus
Buses and vans run around Macau city center, Taipa, COTAI and Coloane, there are clear signages at every bus stops (with Chinese and Portuguese languages) listing different bus routes cards. It is easy to take public transportations around to different destinations of scenery, it is better for tourists to avoid the rush hours. Passengers should prepare coins before getting on the buses or vans, as no change is available. All public transports in Macau are with air-conditioning.
Taxi
There are two different colors of taxi in Macau: black and yellow which charges are the same following their taxi metre. Both travel to all destinations. Some big taxi can take 5 people, some for 4 people and a few for 7 people.
It is unnecessary to pay additional fare from Macau peninsula to Taipa or Taipa to Macau peninsula, but when you travel from Taipa to Coloane, you have to pay MOP 2 extra on top of the original fees shown on the taxi-meter; and when you travel from Macau to Coloane, you have to pay an additional MOP 5 on top of the meter-charge.
No charges is required for calling taxi, you can call Black Taxi (Tel: +853 5000000) or Yellow Taxi (Tel: +853 28519519).
There is no taxi stand for Yellow taxi, you have to catch it on the street or call it on your phone. Its charging is the same as the Black taxi.
Veng Iek Taxi Company offer taxi pick up service from any Macau origin to the Macau International Airport, passengers who need this service need to phone the taxi company at least 3 hours at Tel: 2851 6185 in advance.
Pedicab
Pedicab is kind of transportation with special local characteristics in Macau. Now it is not the main transportation here but it is a good vehicle for tour, especially for traveling around Nam Van and Sai Van. It travels slowly while the tourists can enjoy the scenery and stop to take photos as wish. Most of pedicabs stop near the Macau Ferry Terminal and Hotel Lisboa. There is no fixed rate for pedicabs, visitors can bargain with the driver but usually the price ranges from MOP150.00 to MOP200.00 per hour, depending on the destinations and the time it takes.
