Taipa and Coloane are the two outlying islands of Macau. Taipa is connected to Macau through three bridges: Macau-Taipa Bridge, Friendship Bridge and Sai Van Bridge; whereas Taipa is connected to Coloane by a highway, which is where the famous COTAI Strip locates.

Taipa and Coloane are suburbs with delightful and airy natural environment; they are both attractive places for relaxing and visiting. Aside from the significant establishments like Macau International Airport, University of Macau and Macau Jockey Club, you can also find peaceful villages way different from the city life, small exotic houses, small streets with Portuguese restaurants around, as well as natural sights of gardens and beaches; last but not least, the world¡¯s highest Ah-Ma Goddess statue, etc.. Apart from the modern and tall residential buildings, there are still a lot of bungalows with Traditional Portuguese architectural design.

Taipa
Located right on the South of Macau peninsula, Taipa is made up of two blocks of chained hills. In the past, Taipa had once been an important base for firecracker manufacturing. In recent years, as the blooming of Macau economy, Taipa develops drastically; the establishment of Macau International Airport, the COTAI Strip, different big casinos, world standard convention centre, series of four to five star luxury resorts and hotels brings prosperity and amazing prospects for this island.

Attractive spots include: Museum of Old Portuguese Houses on Avenida da Praia, Our Lady of Carmel Church and Garden, Pou Tai Un Temple, Macau Jockey Club and Four Faced Buddha Statue.

Coloane
Coloane is located at the farthest South of Macau territory, beside Taipa Island. There are enormous projects completed on the island in recent years, the Macau Port (Ka-Ho) located in Ka-Ho Bay is one example of construction project with huge capital. Coloane still retains its natural rurality with old villages, hills, woods and beaches, making this largest virescene area of Macau a pleasure retreat.

Attractive spots include: Hac-Sa Beach, Cheoc Van Beach, Chapel of St. Francis Xavier, Tam Kung Miu Temple, A-Ma Cultural Village and Museum of Nature and Agriculture.
