Macau is known as the "Oriental Monte Carlo", as it is famous for its gaming business. It is aligned with Las Vegas and Morocco as the three biggest gaming cities in the world. Gaming industry brings high development to tourism; it is one of the four main financial supports of Macau as well as its source for foreign revenue.
There is a saying: ‘you do not really visit Macau if you do not experience the gaming here’.
There are totally 25 casinos in Macau currently, which are 18 of Macao Lottery Co., 5 of Ltd Galaxy Casino S.A., one of Wynn Resorts (Macau) and one of S.A. Venetian Macau Limited respectively.. Most casinos are open 24 hours, offering wide range of games, including baccarat, blackjack, roulette, boule, "big and small", fan-tan and slot machines.
The "Sociedade de Jogos de Macau" (SJM) and two Las Vegas based gambling companies: Wynn Resorts (Macau) Ltd. and Galaxy Casino Company Ltd. were granted the licence to operate casinos in Macau.
